Los Caprichos (Altea) selected by Fundación SGAE

Los Caprichos, at the time still titled Altea, has been selected as one of the seven projects for the XIII Screenplay Writing Laboratory 2025 of Fundación SGAE. The call received 211 project submissions from SGAE members; the seven selected screenwriters will develop their work over five months under the mentorship of filmmaker Celia Rico, winner of the 2024 SGAE Dunia Ayaso Award for Los pequeños amores.

The Fundación SGAE Audiovisual Creation Laboratories, running since 2013, support screenplay writing for film and television through collaborative mentorship processes and a financial grant for each selected creator. The laboratory runs between February and June 2025, with in-person meetings in Barcelona and remote sessions.

The other selected projects for the 13th edition of the film screenplay laboratory are: Entidades singulares (Adán Aliaga), 5G (David Labajos and Jorge Navarro de Lemus), Mujer jabalí (Javier Olivera), Semana Santa (Pablo Velasco) and Fénix (Julieta Zabaleta).

The project Altea was later renamed Los Caprichos. Currently in development, it is a co-production between La Fábrica Naranja and Aire de Cinema, with a screenplay co-written by Paloma Zapata and Irene Benlloch. The project has since also been selected for Berlinale Talents 2026.
