Emma returns to Benimaclet on her twenty-fifth birthday. After studying film in Paris, she comes home with an unfinished film: The Color Green, a documentary built from her family’s home movies and footage of the huerta, threatened by the advancing city. But while filming a neighbourhood protest, an accident leaves her in a coma.
This brings back Lucía, her twin sister, who fled six years earlier after breaking with her family. While waiting for Emma to wake, Lucía enters her sister’s unfinished film. Its images lead her through the neighbourhood and towards a life she no longer knows. Gradually, she begins to take Emma’s place: she wears her clothes, rides her bicycle and enters her relationships, while green spreads almost imperceptibly through her hair and the boundaries between them begin to dissolve...
